Zoom Introduction to the Hakomi Method, November 23-24, 2024 with Susann von Meijenfeldt

Research shows that the benefit of psychotherapy is most determined by the quality of presence of the therapist and the quality of the created therapeutic relationship.

In this 2-day workshop we will explore the foundational aspects of an authentic therapeutic presence.

Through lecture, discussion, explorations in mindfulness, breakout room practices, and Q & A, you will get to know the principles of Hakomi Mindful Somatic Psychotherapy and foundational Hakomi skills as we explore our own way of being in therapy.

We will explore what enhances our therapeutic presence and which parts might come in the way of us meeting our clients with true connection, calm, compassion, curiosity, creativity, and spaciousness.

  • How we can be anchored and fully engaged in moment-to-moment presence.
  • Being before Doing.
  • Providing safety and connection: The “therapeutic bubble,” and providing co-regulation from the Ventral Vagal State.
  • Loving Presence & embodying qualities of our “Organic Self.”
  • Exploring our own conditioned parts that at times take over (“the helper,” “the fixer,” the “adviser,” the “caretaker,” and “the one that knows what is best”)

We will explore the intersections of Hakomi, Neuroscience and Interpersonal Neurobiology, Applied Polyvagal Theory & Parts Work.

About the instructor: Susann von Meijenfeldt (RSW) has been working as a somatic therapist since 2000 in not-for-profit agencies and in private practice.

She is a Certified Hakomi Therapist and Teacher and an SEP Trauma Therapist, as well as a HeartMath Coach and Trainer and a Co-active Coach.

She further is  trained in IFS  (level two), in Attachment focused EMDR and is trained in Applied Polyvagal Theory.
