Beth Falch Nielsen is a Registered Clinical Counsellor and Certified Hakomi Therapist and Trainer, with 40 years of experience as a therapist. She currently has a small, semi-retirement practice. She teaches Hakomi in Alberta, and guest-teaches in Portland, Oregon.

In this training, Beth will be address the topic of working with couples, using the Hakomi process map as a guideline for seeing the relationship as the client. She will guide participants in teaching couples to use mindfulness in their relationships. She will demonstrate and teach participants how to use structured exercises and various access routes within the couple’s relationship to offer missing experiences, and to give couples a chance to experiment with doing relationship differently in the therapist’s office. Her teaching will weave in couples’ desire for intimacy, will address repairing attachment wounds, and will introduce Jon Eisman’s Re-Creating the Self model as a way of understanding each partner’s wounded self and strategies.

The workshop will include practical information, an opportunity to practice some of the exercises presented, and the chance to observe a demonstration of Beth working with a couple. She is requesting demonstration couples who are willing to work in a group setting for 1.5 hours. If you have a couple with whom you are currently working but feel that the work is stuck, please consider inviting them to serve as a demo client, as this provides excellent learning for the whole group. If you are able to provide a demo couple, please let Denise know (see contact info below).

Coffee and tea will be provided. Please consider bringing a snack to share with the group.
